Welcome
Well, here we are in November already. Where has the year gone? We have finally begun to see the effects of Fall foliage in its early stages. The warm spell seems to have slowed the color transition for us here in the Lehigh Valley, but it looks like we are well on our way to the cooler weather.

Dare I say it, we are roughly two weeks away from Thanksgiving and less than 50 days away from Christmas! Although some may look ahead at the holidays with anxiety, trepidation, and that voice of Bah, humbug! Keep in mind that this is a time of loving, helping, and rejoicing.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving, from everyone here at EZ Micro Solutions.

We are now in our eighth year of what has become a tradition we are calling our Giving Tree. Through the Giving Tree last year, we were able to provide 20 local families with Christmas gifts and cheer they would not otherwise have had. Helping others has always been a passion of mine and I have been blessed with employees who feel the same way. The most rewarding and unique aspect of the Giving Tree is that it allows us to offer personalized support to the individuals in each family. We will be teaming up with the Lehigh Conference of Churches again this year. They have been wonderful partners, and their resources and experience are what makes it possible for us to be able to do this.

We worked with them to adopt 20 families this year, and we feel very confident that our amazing network of clients and friends will be there to help us. If you plan on making a donation to a charity this year, we ask that you consider helping out one of these families in need. Please visit our website at http://ezmicro.com/events/giving-tree to learn more about our Giving Tree and the families involved. You can see the members of each family, the ages of the children and the gifts they are hoping for this holiday season.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to the Giving Tree thus far. We are so fortunate to be blessed with such kind-hearted friends, family and clients.

PLEASE NOTE: All gifts for adopted families must be dropped off at our office no later than Friday, December 8th.

Thank you again for your generosity.

Sincerely,
David Dooley, President, EZ Micro Solutions

Increasingly, banks and credit card companies are trying out biometrics to authenticate a cardholder's identity.

Online credit card fraud is soaring. And, it's still pretty darn prevalent in the offline world. In fact, global credit card fraud will exceed $35.54 billion in 2020, up from $16.3 billion in 2014, according to The Nilson Report.

The first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade didn't feature any balloons.

But when the parade made its big debut in 1924, it did have something that might be even cooler than balloons: animals from the Central Park Zoo.

We have a Good Housekeeping illustrator to thank for the parade's first balloons.

German American illustrator Tony Starg, who completed illustrations for Good Housekeeping, also had a passion for puppetry, which he used make the amazing floats come to life in 1927.
Thanksgiving NOW Vs. THEN
Tyler Andrews
Thanksgiving is one of the most beloved American holidays. It's a time where college students actually want to go home, be with their family, and enjoy the greatest gift of all: food. Leaving out the details of the history of this holiday, it is one of the happiest times of the year. Everybody has a different experience on this holiday whether they have it at their house or a relative's.

One thing is for certain though, your experience changes as you grow older. As a child, Thanksgiving means waking up before 9:00 am to help with cooking and watching the Macy's Day Parade. You get to see your cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Remember Holiday & Travel Safety
Thanksgiving and Christmas will soon be upon us, and it's time to take a few minutes to prepare for a safe holiday season.

In the office, remember to notify clients ahead of time of closures and support hours. As you head out and onto the roads, consider putting together a small emergency kit for your suitcase or your car.

At home, consider these winter holiday safety tips. Turn off lights at night, water your Christmas tree to reduce flammability, keep an eye on what's cooking, and more. And finally, during this time when we see our friends and loved ones, consider creating and discussing a family emergency plan.
How to "Spatchcock" your turkey

Social Engineering

Social Engineering is the art of manipulating, influencing, or deceiving you in order to gain control over your computer system. The hacker might use the phone, email, snail mail or direct contact to gain illegal access. Phishing, spear-phishing, and CEO Fraud are all examples.

Everyone at EZ Micro Solutions would like to congratulate Jen Driscoll, and her daughter Lilian Driscoll on their book...

This incredible children's book follows the experiences of Lilian Hope and her little brother, Aidan Patrick, both born prematurely. "Hope means wishing for good things to happen," Lily says, as she realizes "hope" has followed her since the day she was born. Lily and Aidan share hope in their non-profit organization, "Lily‘s Hope," that supports families with premature babies.
