EZ Micro Has an Announcement!!
EZ Micro is excited to announce that, after being in business for over 25 years in the Lehigh Valley, we're getting a facelift!

We have rebranded with fresh colors, a new logo, and a core message that speaks to who we are and how we interact with our clients.

We are "Dedicated Servers." At EZ Micro Solutions, we're about so much more than managed IT solutions. We're a team of dedicated members who are constantly striving to provide better service. We're driven by partnership, reliability, and helping you when you need it, not just when we have time. We do what we do because we love making your life easier, and your technology more
efficient. We are a team of "Dedicated Servers."

Many IT service providers know how to fix computer issues. That's just expected when you hire an IT company. We are very proud of the technical expertise we provide, and we believe that we can solve almost any problem. But what you experience when working with us is what makes us different. We offer a truly a unique customer service experience. We convey a sense of caring, compassion, and interest in your success with every interaction. Our goals are your goals. The purpose of our rebranding is to communicate that to everyone we meet.

A HUGE thank you to 3Seed Marketing for helping us accomplish our mission with a new website and marketing material. We have known for a long time that we are different from other service companies, but now I feel we can communicate that better to people who don't know us and haven't experienced EZ Micro.

Going through this process gave us the ability as a team to really define our Mission Statement and Core Values. This is EZ Micro, and this is WHY WE’RE Different!

Our Mission Statement:
Do what’s right and serve with dedication in all things

Our Core Values:
Humbly Confident

We are very proud of our new website and we invite you to share the experience with us. Please visit ezmicro.com and offer your feedback!
EZ Micro Employee of The Month / Security
Blu was in the office with us for a few days. It seems like he gets all the attention from Dave (it must be the blankie... lol) and apparently steals Employee of the Month. Hey, I wasn't even aware that we had an Employee of the Month !!!!???

He could hardly be bothered when someone rang the doorbell, because that would disrupt his sleep and required the slightest effort on his end to lift his head and get a bark out. LOL

Blu's AKA name is "Blu - Avondale Once Upon A Blue Moon" when I asked about his name, I was told that he was born on a blue moon.

Blu is a 2 ½ year old Golden Retriever and belongs to Linda Baxter. Linda is the wife of Greg Baxter, who is our Operations Manager here at EZ Micro. From what we hear, there might be some pups running around the office in a few months. Zena, (the mommy of Blu) will hopefully be pregnant soon!

As a little boy, the New Zealand native served as an altar boy and even had dreamed of being the Pope one day. However, as he grew older, he found his calling in gardening. Barry started a gardening company, but wait until you the work that he does. It's truly one-of-a-kind.

You see, Barry has combined his strong faith with his creative talents to create something truly astonishing.

Are Smart Homes Safe From Hackers?
By Alexander George
There are criminals out there looking to exploit smart thermostats and Wi-Fi cameras. Hackers can remotely disable a thermostat and demand a ransom to return it to working order, or gather sensitive information about its owner. It's the risk of anything wireless and convenient. Cybersecurity researchers fight back by dissecting smart hardware and finding weaknesses for manufacturers to fix before the bad guys get wise. We asked a few of these researchers to assess whether some common smart appliances left their figurative doors unlocked.

Still Cooking with Aluminum Foil? You'll Want to Read This
Alexa Erickson

A lot has changed since aluminum arrived on the scene back in 1910, after the first aluminum foil rolling plant, Dr. Lauber, Neher & Cie, opened in Emmishofen, Switzerland. The first use of foil in the United States came about in 1913, when it was used to wrap Life Savers, candy bars, and gum. Eventually, aluminum foil made its way into American kitchens as a way to bake fish or roast vegetables on the barbecue, to line baking pans, and to trap steam when cooking.

Folk Magic: The Hex Signs of Pennsylvania
In 1952, a Berks County folk artist named Johnny Ott started painting and selling colorful, stylized discs inspired by the large, decorative stars that commonly adorned the barns across Pennsylvania German Country (still colloquially known as Pennsylvania Dutch Country). Unlike barn stars, which were painted directly on the sides of structures, the wooden hex signs, a term likely derived from the Pennsylvania German word "hexafoo" or "witch's foot," could be ported around and hung not just on barns, but anywhere. Ott marketed hex signs as objects of folk magic, ascribing specific meaning and power to the symbolism on the signs.

Keylogger discovered in audio driver on several HP laptops
By Paul Lilly

Dozens of HP laptop models have been found to contain an audio driver that silently logs users keystrokes, according to Swiss security firm ModZero. There does not appear to be malicious intent behind the keylogger, as one might automatically assume, but there is the potential that it could be used for nefarious purposes.

Injecting a keylogger into an audio driver seems like an odd thing, and that's because it is. However, audio chip manufacturer Conexant apparently went that route on several HP laptop models as means of trying to detect when a hotkey is pressed. Shortcuts exist for tasks such as turning a microphone on and off, and that presents a problem.

Did You Know?
Memorial Day is often confused with Veterans Day. Why? According to the Department of Veterans Affairs:

"Many people confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. While those who died are also remembered, Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military — in wartime or peacetime. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served — not only those who died — have sacrificed and done their duty."
