Welcome

Hi everyone! Happy 4th of July! I have officially been at EZ Micro for over 2 months. In some ways it still seems brand new, and in others it feels like I’ve been here forever. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and helpful, and I am loving working here.

As we celebrate Independence Day, I’d like to tell you about someone close to me that is currently serving in the military. Years ago, John (a good friend on mine) was debating whether to go into the Army as a helicopter pilot or go into the Navy to be a jet pilot. As we talked, I could see his passion was for the Navy, and his true dream was to fly jets. The conundrum was the length of the commitment. To be a Navy Jet Pilot, the training is years longer, and he was afraid that if he didn’t like it he would be stuck.

I could see his dream, see his heart, and I encouraged him to go for it. My advice was that he could spend a few years learning to do something he liked (and spend the rest of his life wondering). Or he could spend a few more years taking a risk. If he hated it, he might've wasted a few years. But if he loved it, he’d have a lifetime of doing what he always dreamed about.

Well, I didn't know it at the time, but apparently that conversation was a deciding point for him to join the Navy. And I am happy to say that he not only loves it but went on to be one of the best pilots and an instructor at Top Gun.

It has been many years now that John has been in the Navy, and I still worry about him all the time. At one point we talked about my concern, and he said, “Don’t worry, if I die, I will die doing what I love”. I know John isn’t alone. I know that there are thousands and thousands of men and women who risk their life everyday to keep the rest of us safe.

Above are pictrues of John in flight!

So to John I say, “thank you for serving and being an inspiration to all of us!” To everyone else, I ask you to join me in prayer for the people in our military, and then do something you've always wanted to do. It could change your life!

How a Daredevil Raccoon Pulled Off a Terrifying 23-Story Climb
By Brandon Specktor

Not all heroes wear capes, but most of them do wear masks. Even raccoons.

On June 12, a daredevil raccoon in St. Paul, Minnesota, captivated the Internet by climbing 23 stories up a vertical concrete wall. The raccoon, now known as MPR raccoon in honor of the Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) employees who spotted the critter scaling a nearby skyscraper, became an instant social media star as viewers around the world rooted for its safe return to the ground. The Energy Bus: 10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy / Edition 1

by Jon Gordon

I'll admit - I wasn't very excited for this one. It was recommended to me and it just didn't interest me that much. Let me tell you though - one chapter in and I was hooked! I don't want to ruin any surprises but let's just say it is a great way to keep your motivation and focus both in work and life. I highly recommend this book to anyone!

By Yasemin Saplakoglu

The giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) is a towering weed that can cause vision loss and intense burns. But no, this poisonous plant doesn't come from Professor Sprout's botany syllabus at Hogwarts; instead, it's very real and was recently identified in Virginia, according to news reports.

A Virginian came across the giant plant and suspected that it could be bad news.
