Another Great Workshop. Thank You Miers Insurance & Apogee Insurance Group
EZ Micro hosted another amazing event as part of the "My Business" series on Thursday, January 25th. Keeping up with everything that encompasses technology in today’s world has become that necessary evil.

A huge THANK YOU to the experts on this topic and our presenters — Miers Insurance and Apogee Insurance Group (Apogee is the Cyber Insurance Underwriter for Miers).

Having knowledge of car and homeowner insurance is one thing, but wrapping your head around the layers of cyber-insurance is an entirely different game all together. I think after hearing Michael Cavanaugh (of Apogee Insurance) speak, it raised all kinds of intriguing questions from our guests.

Cyber-insurance is an insurance product used to protect businesses and indicial users from Internet-based risks, and more generally from risks relating to information technology infrastructure and activities. Risks of this nature are typically excluded from traditional commercial general liability policies, or at least are not specifically defined in traditional insurance products.

Coverage provided by cyber-insurance policies may include first-party coverage against losses such as data destruction, extortion, theft, hacking, and denial of service attacks; liability coverage indemnifying companies for losses to others caused, for example, by errors and omissions, failure to safeguard data, or defamation; and other benefits including regular security-audit, post-incident public relations and investigative expenses, and criminal reward funds.

Confusing stuff right? Believe me, there are layers upon layers to this coverage. If you already have cyber-insurance, make sure you have adequate coverage. If you need cyber-insurance and guidance through the process, reach out to EZ Micro Solutions and we can assist in getting you to a trusted advisor.
MY DAY
A few years ago Dave started this program at EZ Micro called "My Day" for all employees. Here’s how it works:

The "My Day" program is intended to be an opportunity for team members to attend to matters that would not normally get addressed during the course of an ordinary business day.

The following examples are not a complete list but merely meant to spark your thought process:
  • preparation for a certification or personal enrichment
  • organization of company documents or materials
  • documentation
  • environment improvements.
Once approved, this will be a paid weekday during which employees will not be scheduled for his or her usual work responsibilities.

THE TAX SYSTEM EXPLAINED IN BEER

by KYLE BECKER | MAY 13, 2014 | 6:41 PM

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this...

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

CONGRATULATIONS ROBERT FULPER –
COUNCIL PRESIDENT of Phillipsburg, NJ!

Everyone at EZ Micro is extremely proud of Bobby. He was sworn in on New Year’s Day with his wife and four children by his side.
CONGRATULATIONS MAYOR HEINTZELMAN!!!
EZ Micro has come to know you as a wonderful, generous and caring person who is ALWAYS putting others first. We know you will do a fantastic job as Mayor of Hellertown, and we wish you all the success and joy that comes with your added responsibilities.

Hellertown has a new mayor. Businessman and civic leader David Heintzelman (right) was sworn in as mayor of the borough of 6,000 Tuesday night by Northampton County Judge Emil Giordano.
Thank you to Miers Insurance for participating in
Project Keep Warm.

The staff at Miers Insurance did a FANTASTIC job helping the LVBG (Lehigh Valley Business Group) and EZ Micro collect coats for those in need during the cold winter months.

Project Keep Warm:
Our vision is to get these items to those in need. These include the homeless, (including homeless veterans), those living outside in encampments, in vehicles, individuals, families, children, homeless shelters, various social agencies, soup kitchens, code blue shelters, day centers, stand downs, food pantries, treatment centers, etc.

AWESOME BED IDEA!
I think Chevy should just start building these and selling them, or use them as a give-a-way when you purchase a certain model vehicle!

Windows 10 Tip: How to recover your pin and password from the lock screen
used with permission from Microsoft, by Elana Pidgeon

Did you know with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, you can now easily reset your pin or password, right from your device's lock screen?

Here's how to get started:

On your PC's lock screen, click I forgot my password and sign in with your MSA account. From there, you'll be asked to prove you're not a robot by typing the code shown on the screen – once that's done, click next.

How ridesharing services can take your privacy for a ride
used with permission from Norton by Symantec

In cities around the globe, using ridesharing services has become a way of life. Just as "Google" has become a verb, so have "Uber" and "Lyft," to name just two of the better-known ridesharing companies.

The convenience of always-available cars and drivers paired with easy-to-use apps, plus a selection of ride and pricing options makes for a great blend of technology and transportation.

Did You Know?

1. Aluminium Or Plastic Wrap Box Holes
Yes, you've probably been using the aluminum foil box wrong your whole life, but that's okay: you're learning now. Fold in these little tabs to lock the roll in place.

2. Colorful Bread Tags
You may think the color of your tag is just random, but really, it's part of a secret code. Each color represents a day of the week, so you always know when it was delivered to the store. Normally the days are in alphabetical order (Monday is blue, Tuesday is green...) but each company is a little different.

3. Plastic Lid Cup
If your local cafe gives you a plastic cup and lid, or you buy some from the store, you're getting a free coaster too. The cup is designed to fit perfectly onto the lid and keep your tables looking like new!
