The Massive Tree House In Pennsylvania That's Actually A Restaurant You Need To Visit
The first thing you notice when you arrive at Heritage Hotel is the incredibly unique addition to this Lancaster landmark hotel. To call the structure a deck or a patio doesn't do this two-story structure justice. It's unique structure is nothing short of extraordinary.

Imagine dining in the most impressive tree house ever built. The open layout and use of the natural environment give the feeling of being submersed in nature. Step inside and see why it's unlike any restaurant in Central Pennsylvania. Feast on the extensive menu, grab a stool and cozy up to one of three bars, surrounding a tree growing through the center.

Many of Pennsylvania's New Year's celebrations pay homage to manufacturing roots

Paddle Faster

Short sighted and often rarely challenged for size and strength, sharks will often approach shapes in the water above them that they cannot identify and many shark attacks come about by the shark merely being curious as to what is floating in the water above them. Unfortunately for this guy, he seems to be on the wrong end of this shark's inquisitive nature.

However, if the shark had decided the boat was not edible, it wouldn't bother going in for a nibble so let's keep our fingers crossed that it thought plastic might be a bit too chewy for it.

Pulling Over Can Be Dangerous

Pulling someone over in some states can be a little more dangerous than others as this cop soon found out when a gator decided to crawl out of the nearby undergrowth and greet the lawman who at least managed to get on top of his patrol vehicle. Gators have thick hides and sometimes a bullet is not enough to keep them at bay.

This only being a small one, it may not have been too much of a problem and would have eventually become bored if it thought it couldn't get at an easy meal, but it still makes for an unpleasant surprise.

Good Customer Service Intentions Don't Count
By Debra J. Schmidt

While shopping one day I noticed a "No Wait" policy posted in a grocery store. The sign declared, "We guarantee that you will no longer experience long lines. When we see more than three people in line, we will open a new register immediately."

I had plenty of time to read the sign. There were six people in line ahead of me!

Human Computers: The Women of NASA
By Brynn Holland

They were known as "human computers" long before desktop, laptops and multi-function calculators. Comprising an elite team of mathematicians, engineers and scientists, these women were tasked with turning numbers into meaningful data at what would later become NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and Langley Research Center. Their calculations would chart the course of many ground-breaking missions, carrying U.S. astronauts to the moon and beyond.  Read more

The Internet of Things has officially hit peak stupid, courtesy of this smart toaster
by Joel Hruska on January 5, 2017
The Consumer Electronics Show (now dubbed CES) has always been an event where companies large and small debut new products and demonstrate cutting-edge R&D. At its best, the show serves as a jumping-off point for the technologies, products, and services we'll see throughout the year. At its worst, it functions as a dumping ground for bad ideas and garbage products. At the show this week, Griffin Technology debuted a smart toaster as part of their new Griffin Home initiative.
